🎮 Video Game Addiction Lawsuit – What Parents and Young Adults Should Know

Video games like Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, Call of Duty, and World of Warcraft have become more than just entertainment; they’ve become a lifestyle. But for some, these games have crossed into something far more harmful: video game addiction.

A new class action lawsuit has been filed to hold gaming companies accountable for their addictive designs and the real-life harm they’ve caused to young players and families.

What Is Video Game Addiction (VGA)?

According to the World Health Organization’s ICD-11, gaming disorder is defined by a lack of self-control over gaming that causes significant impairment in daily life.

It can look like:

  • Playing for hours every day at the cost of school, work, or relationships.

  • Developing anxiety, depression, or even aggression (“gamer rage”).

  • Dropping out of school or being unable to work due to gaming.

  • Requiring counseling or medical treatment for gaming-related issues.

Who Can File a Claim?

You may qualify if:

  • The gamer is 24 or under.

  • You are the parent or guardian of a child who meets this criteria.

  • The gamer logged 210 hours of play within a 5-week period (an average of 3 hours per day) since 2015 on platforms like Xbox, PlayStation, Roblox, or VR.

  • The gamer has been officially diagnosed with conditions such as anxiety, depression, or gaming addiction, or has received counseling/treatment.

  • Life impacts such as suicide attempts, dropping out of school, or being unable to work have occurred due to gaming.

Why This Matters

The lawsuit seeks to recover damages for families who have been harmed and to promote safer gaming practices moving forward.

Compensation will vary based on age, circumstances, and impact, but claims could range from thousands of dollars up to six figures in some cases. While every situation is unique, it’s worth checking eligibility if gaming addiction has affected your family.

And importantly, filing a claim costs nothing upfront. This case is being handled on a contingency basis, which means the legal team only gets paid if there’s a recovery. If no money is awarded, you owe nothing.
